Tony Award Winner!F-A-N-T-A-S-T-I-C! - That’s the only way to spell this smash-hit musical comedy! The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is the story of how six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn’t everything and that losing doesn’t necessarily make you a loser. This hilarious tale of overachievers’ angst chronicles the experience of six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. The show’s Tony Award-winning creative team has created the unlikeliest of heroes: a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time. " When you come to see us, forget everything that you have been used to seeing in all other theatres. Perhaps much of it will seem absurd."
- OBERIU, 1928
After a riotous oversold presentation of the workshop production last spring, ARTEL - a mad-gang of artisanal scientists comprising the underground American Russian Theatre Ensemble Laboratory - brings Daniil Kharms back with a vengeance! And he is more charming, macabre, and scintillating than ever! Kharmful Charms of Daniil Kharms is an original decadent comedy, illogically formulated from Russian Surrealist and Absurdist motifs, constructed as an evening of not-so-innocent commotions and antics, vignettes and dreamlike incidents, all set to a rousing live musical score.
Notes: Arrive early for Amuse-Um installations, instant happenings, surprise disappearances, musical ambushes, and eruptions of sound poetry.

One Night Only! Celebrate St Patrick’s Day with this uproarious one-woman comedy that asks what it means to be Irish, what it means if you don’t want to be, and what if you’re labeled an Irish Wannabe? London Irish writer-performer Máire Clerkin, who cut her teeth in the 80’s alternative comedy scene with an act called "The Hairy Marys," relives her past with tales of the disappointing daughter of an Irish dancing-school mistress, ugly duckling syndrome, cultural confusion and a life dedicated to work avoidance.
“…glorious riffs of traditional Irish dance…animated impersonations and snapshot transitions in a world that Clerkin captures so meticulously” - LA Weekly (Theater Pick)
